5 lug

For an '86 the cheapest way to go 5 lug is 1st generation Ranger 4x2 front brake rotors and the standard Ranger rear axle conversion all Fox's can use.

'79-'86 Mustang 4 lug rotors use the same bearings and are the same diameter as the '83-'88 (for sure, through '93 as well I think) 4x2 Ranger. Th eonly difference is the 4 vs 5 lugs.

you have to use the right side though???

Ya, the 86 brakes ar the same as the 4cyl through 93 so you can get brand new ranger rotors for like $25 a piece at the auto parts store. You obviously dont gain anything in braking performance but if your just want to open wheel choices to 5 lug stuff then it works. You will also need the dust caps because they are bigger and I have had to grind a little off the metal on the brake pads because the ranger rotor "hat" is slightly larger in diameter and will sometimes rub a little.

Other options would be to install 87-93 V8 spindles and use lincoln rotors. I dont think they clear some factory wheel caps though. Or you could go with SN95 stuff in front.
