ok, i know this is a retarded question that has been asked over and over again,
but does the stock 4.6 take 5 or 6 quarts of oil? i did something that i never do
i went to jiffy lube for an oil change. i went for a full synthetic oil change which
was $59.99 for up to 5 quarts, but when they charged me it was like $69.99
and they told me that it took 6 3/4 quarts. i just waunt to check to make sure that they didn't pull a fast one on me. my oil guage reads just under 3/4 from low to high.

6 quarts is the capacity I believe, I usually put 5 and 1/2 quarts when doing my oil changes.

Don't rely on your stock oil gauge to check your oil levels because that's not its purpose.
It's more of a low oil pressure warning light.

Either way, 6 3/4th is way too much.

yea,
i was just noticing that the gauge was reading higher than usual, so i
assume that when they told me that it took 6 3/4 quarts thats why
it was reading on the high side. i never use the gauge to check my oil level,
besides it is always in the center of the gauge.

I put 6 quarts in my '03.

Don't go to jiffy lube. I had friends that worked in quick lube places when i was young...i could tell you some stories. Dealer or yourself is all i say for oil changes.

I put 6 in my 01 motor and 6-1/4 in my Cobra because I have the blower, so I figure the blower and lines take up some.

I wasnt meaning to bash you man, lol. If your only paying the same price or $10 more than its no biggy, especially if they are doing some cleaning.

What kind of oil do you use though? Im asking because it honestly does sound pretty expensive even for a do it yourself change.

i usually use royal purple w/K&N oil filter, but this time around i used the full synthetic that J.L. had. i'm not to sure how good their oil is but i figured this once
was no biggie. i thought that i had heard that J.L. used recycled oil but i'm not possitive about that. i was not offended on your comment, just having some
fun.

The local jiffy lube near me carries bottled Pennzoil.
I'm not sure about the 'bulk oil' that they use though. I wouldn't be surprised if they use recycled crap. Some of those mechanics are real shady.
