just wondering is it possible to swap in an automatic in a 2000 mustang? what tranny will i need? other parts? the reason i ask is the car is my girlfriends and it has 58,000 miles on it....she has burnt up the clutch in it already....she has a hard time with a manual shift because of her height...any help would be appreciated.

yes it's possible... most people do auto to 5 speed...

you just need to get a 4r70w automatic transmission, you need a different yoke for your driveshaft, tranmission pigtail wiring, automatic flywheel, automatic flywheel bolts, shifter, and a few other stuff.. but the thing you need to worry about is the computer

you either need to get a fordchip to reprogram your computer to act like an automatic, or have ford swap in an automatic computer and have them program your keys and etc to it

btw.. where do yo u live?? i swapped from an auto to a 5 speed, so i have the tranny you need, the driveshaft, the flywheel, and a some stuff

basically, because of pats, you can't change computers or you won't be able to start your car because your keys aren't programmed to the computer

i opted to buy the fordchip to do this because i wanted to get a chip

i live in north-central wv... i could meet you with the parts if necessary to cut down on shipping costs

i'd sell you everything i have, and that includes:

everything came out of a 98 v6 automatic:

automatic transmission w/ torque convertor and bolts
transmission crossmember
flywheel
transmission pigtail
complete driveshaft with 4r70w yoke
transmission coolant lines (there are 2 lines, one going to the radiator and one coming from the radiator)

i'd sell the parts and meet you half way to columbus for $500
