500 or more RWHP cars and transmissions

I am looking for feedback from people that have had well built auto's and/or good manual transmission set ups. I currently have a 4r70w built by Jerry to handle 900 or so horsepower and a PI 3400 stall - 3 clutch converter. I haven't had any problems, but I am wondering if I am missing out by not having a TKO-600 or Viper spec T-56. I am kind of on the fence on this because there are pros and cons either way.

I believe the TKO 600 is only rated for 600hp, but I know plenty of people with much more then that. Also, the T-56 is gonna be quite a bit stronger as well, hell my friends stock Cobra T-56 is holding up fine with 12XXhp and some of those viper cars are going 8s with the T56.

Sure, I mean a company called promotion power train makes the gforce trans . The guys I know who run the poop out of cars had a 650rwhp car spinning over 7k rpm that blew up 2 gforce transmissions. The ones that promotion put together never blew up and took anything they threw at it. Promotion puts em together differently.

I personally like the g force because no vibration bs, direct fit replacement , just put it in and go with out a lot of bs.

I have a g-force t-5...running for 3-4 yrs. in my DD/Road Race car no problems whatsoever. I just have the basic kit 26spline input shaft and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears. Stock case, stock output shaft and stock 5th gear. I had mine rebuilt locally back then for like $250 bux and I did the removal/install myself. But then again my car only makes like 350rwhp and I have never had slicks on it and/or tried to launch the car at like 5000rpm like some of you guys do. Thats the info I have for what its worth. I dunno of anyone locally with a g-force kit other than me so I have no info on their fancier case, output shaft, etc.

my tuner just blew up his g-force t-5 friday night. 96 cobra w/ a 5.0 on N.O.S. he said it sounded like a bomb went off. but the car did a 1.39 60 foot on slicks when it went. blew up on the 1-2 shift. car didn't even make 500rwhp i dont think. broke the case and everything.

Grenaded a tko-600 in my challenger on slicks after only 1,500 street miles. I don't have any experience with high horsepower fords but its all the same basically. Never had any trouble with even mildly modified torqueflite automatics.

What really makes the difference in drivetrain longetivity if how much torque and where you are making it. Whether or not you are really letting the trans have it.

I think its more than possible that a transmission that grenades behind a motor making 600lbs of torque at 2k rpm may live forever behind a motor with a very peaky 800lbs of torque at 5k rpm if that makes sense.

I have a T-56 Viper spec in the car right now with a Zoom stage 3 clutch setup. The tranny has been in there for about 2 years without any issues.
Last year I was running around at 487 rwhp, and this year it put down 511 rwhp. I am very happy with the choice to go with the T-56. It shifts really smooth. I can't really compare it with a T-5 since my car was an auto before the swap.
If I was looking to have a serious race car, I would have stayed with an automatic, but I am just looking for something that is fun to drive around town, and at the track.
The best I was able to get with it on Nitto DR's was an 11.68 @ 125.
