So by intake do you mean a cold air such as the BBK one for about $160? Or do I need to do manifold? I have also heard there are upper and lower intakes?

You'll get much more HP/$ by spending that $160 on a ported lower intake - or add $100+ bucks and get an SN Cobra intake.
