Engine 6.80 pushrods?

anyone in here ever have to use 6.80 pushrods in a stock block 302 with twisted wedge heads?
Just seems a.little odd.. especially with milled heads and a .035 headgasket

My heads are untouched. Out of the box. I measured for all the sizes around 6.750”. I did 6.700 through 6.850”. Mine seemed to measure around the same for 6.750” and 6.800 so I went with the larger size.

ive has reputable engine builders tell me the lifters “pump up” at higher rpm, and others tell me the pushrods bend slightly making them slightly shorter.

So they came in.. they are diffent lengths.. what do yall think about this..from 6.812-6.816

I never measured mine unfortunately, just slapped them in.

I found this method on how to properly measure ball end


In this case, measuring the actual length of a pushrod needs to be accurate. Trend suggests a procedure that requires finding a pair of washers with 0.140-inch inside diameters. These are necessary to accurately place the measurement point at the 0.140-inch radius of the pushrod tip. Using an appropriate length dial caliper, measure the overall length of the washers and pushrod. The combined thickness of the two washers is subtracted from the gross length to determine true pushrod length.
