6 Cylinder Tranny Into 5.0

Ok I have a big question for you guys...I'm on a tight budget right now and I'm looking for a T-5 for my stang because mine is toast. I know this guy who has supposedly a T-5 out of an '84 or '85 Mustang LX 6 cylinder. He only wants $150 for it and he will warrantee it for 30 days. The tranny has 100k on it. I'm wondering if this thing will fit into my '88 LX 5.0 and if it will be able to last me at least 6 months or so? I've heard different things from different people, like me having to shave down the shaft, etc. Some guys tell me it will bolt in fine though, but a couple have said its not gonna hold the power of the car, which I'm concerned of also.

wether it will work or not.. i believe 150 to be too much for a 100k 6 banger tranny.

I mean come-on... its on its way out before you put it in.

Look around some more and I bet you will find something more suitable and in the same price range.

I still get 650 for used 100K V-8 T-5's. 150 isn't too bad....the 4cyl and v-6 T-5's have a smaller input shaft. It will not mate with the pilot bearing. It will go in but it will NOT touch the bearing, causing bad vibrations at high speeds. The 4cyl is internaly weaker, but it will hold for 6 months, just don't be heading to the drag strip or power shifting.
