Paul, you shouldn't judge without being informed. I appreciate your concern guys but I am a father of four that takes very good care of all my kids.
When the back seat is in the car there are two very safe car seats (with shoulder restraints) in the car.
When the twins are in the car we don't drive on the highway, I take them on cruises in town at about 25 MPH. (they do like it when I spin the tires a little)
I don't put any of my kids in harms way, they where helmets at horseback riding lessons and when they ride their bikes.
Any other advice / comments on child safety?
Is the world a more dangerous place now than it was when I was a kid growing up during the mid-60s to graduating high school in the mid-80s?
In 1970, I was 4 years old. I remember my brother &
I going places with my mom & dad when no one wore a seat belt back then, and we are all still here today.
My friends and I rode our bikes all over the place and we had plenty of wrecks, but none of us ever got a head injury out of it.
I wear my seat belt because I realize I have a better chance of surviving a crash with it on than with it off. However, I don't feel it's the federal government's place to tell me I have to have it on.
Seatbelts in a vehicle is smart. Having a helmet on and protective gear while riding a bike can help limit injury if you take a spill, but I believe it's a bit overboard to require it.
There's nothing wrong with safety and being safe, but I believe that people and government have, and are going, way overboard with it all, to the point of being rediculous.
I think washmo66 probably has enough sense to properly restrain his children in his Mustang, while they have a nice time together and taking a fun trip in the car.
