WTF do spindles have to do with a trans? They never made an '86 with a 6spd anyway. If you want a 6spd, look at gp001's Richmond install or grab a blowtorch, hack a big hole, and bolt in a Tremec T56. Either way, open the wallet...WIDE!

I like it. I put a Richmond 6spd in my 70 Boss 302. One thing to consider is that with 6spds, you row quicker thru the gears. I chose the Richmond due to the bragging factor since it is a real Boss car. If it was a standard Mustang, I would have chosen the T56

On another note, I just got a 69 Camaro with a T56 mated to an LS6. I have not had the chance to compare the two cars and the trannys.

Depends on if you want to cut up the car. I have a 67 FB with 351C as well. I put in the TKO without cutting. The TKO 500 fits perfectly.

You can use old or new style bell housing and clutch. You just need to pick which style. I have the old style.

Also, you can go with hydraulic clutch mechanism with either bell/clutch just make sure they all match.

t-56 pics.

I have a t-56 bolted in my 66 coupe and it does take some cutting to make it work at the correct 3 degrees needed to cut down on the vibration. Here a pic...
Never mind the FILE is too large? Is there anyway to reduce the file size? I just bought a Mini coope S with the 6 speed and now I cant wait to drive mine with twice the horsepower.

check Modern Driveline

if you go 5-speed, there will be no surgery required (TKO500 or 600):

http://www.safepay.net/cgi-bin/shop/cart.cgi?db=mddata.txt&category=Transmission&merchant=moderndriveline

and if you really want to go crazy with the gears and 5 ends up not being enough you could put a Gear Vendors splitter behind it. 10 gears, baby!

Here's a good article on the swap and options:

http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2005/03/T56Swap/index.php

(may need a paid membership to view whole article)

LOL! Hack, don't worry, I still bleed Ford Blue, I have two other Mustangs to prove it, but that Camaro is sure nice! Runs 11.25 @128.

65Mistress, if you closely look at the trans pic, I had to remove about .25" of sheetmetal from the left side of the shifter hole. I plan on smoothing it and framing the perimeter with a band of sheetmetal to make it look oem...no big deal.

Steel1212, thanks for the thumbs up.
