64-66 Billet Tail Lamp Bezels

Can't say I really like them...

Also can't say I approve of a vendor trying to sell something in the forum either. I'll leave the thread open for a little while, but its going to be closed sometime Wednesday afternoon.

I like B better than A, but I have some questions. I assume only the 4 corner bolts are "functional" and the others are just attached to the surface for looks, is this correct? If this is the case are there "blanks" available that don't have the added bolts (or any bolts)? I think they would look better if they only had the 4 corner bolts, and if a different type bolt head was used. Maybe an allen head cap screw instead of the button. If blanks were available I would buy a set right now and use stainless cap screws. Would look good with the sport bike billet fuel door I'm adding.

PM me if blanks are available as I describe

Thanks

As far as the price is concerned, these are machined out of 1 piece billet aluminum blocks. Tooling is very expensive in the USA!

Moderator, we are asking the forums opinion since these are not even available yet!

All of the allens are removable and can be replaced by your own bolts, stainless or whatever! This is the same on the gas caps...

Design: Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally am not thrilled with the design (too much contrast, little clearance around the black bolts makes it look busy), but I like it that you guys are going this far to make custom parts, and that there are now more choices than just stock. FWIW, I much prefer "B".

Price: Whoa over 200 bucks... I know billet is expensive, but that is quite a bit of cash when the stockers are so cheap.

Hawking on our fourm: Well, if you are actually asking our opinions so as to influence the final product, then I would applaud you for involving the enthusiast in your R&D. Since the price is set and they are already available for order, it looks as though you are just placing an unsolicited ad.

...Edit to accomidate mdjay's reply...

Now that is good news. That would accomplish alot. People could customize it with different bolts to better blend with their taste, and be more unique. Good job on that, and I think you should either make that common knowlege, or offer aluminum finish bolts as well as black.

Although we had a direct hand in the inception and design, these are from Scott Drake. As far as the post. We are about to place a large stocking order and are trying to get a feel for all of your interest in the product. We do not control the price, SD does. These have quite a bit more machining than the $85-90 cap. The cap x2 is approx $180!

This is obviously not an item for a stock friendly enthusiast. While it is an alternative for the resto-mod guys who are looking for alternatives. This is in my opinion, better than chopping up their 65-66 tail light panels to insert 67-68 Shelby lights. We're always looking for ways to bolt-on good looking alternatives.

This is the look I am thinking of (please excuse the poor photo chop job).

EDIT - Jays post above mine came in while I was typing mine up. Guess it answers my question :(

This was one of the initial designs.

However, the final design is meant to be closer to the billet gas caps...

i think that these would be awesome if you could completely eliminate the bolts from showing at all. Could they possibly be drilled and tapped from the backside to allow them to be bolted on from inside the taillight panel? i did a quick halfway decent chop job, but the system wont let me delete my other attachments.... i might actually consider spending that kind of money if they could be attached as i described.

Great idea. :nice:

at the silver springs show this past sunday NPD had the bezel for $169. they told me it was from scott drake and its not in NPD's catalog yet. they had it on a display hooked up to the sequential flashing signal. i thought it looked pretty good but still pricey, but i do like the one without the black lines on them.

One thing previously unmentioned. On the four corners, there is a philips head screw holding these on under the allen cap bolt.

So changing the bolts type to caps, plugs whatever will not affect the mounting!

You guys would be suprised when you mount the "B" version. It looks kinda bulky without something on it! That's why we had the version done with the lines...
