I'm considering buying a posi rear end. All the owner knows about the rear end is that its from a V8 mustang. I have a 65 mustang coupe. I want to know what year mustang this is out of so I know if it is a direct bolt on or if it will require any modifications. I also would like to confirm that it is a limited slip rear end and not a locker. There is no ID tag on the rear end so im not sure if it is possible to identify it. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

A limited slip will turn both wheels the same direction but if some one holds one wheel and someone else turns the other wheel a limited slip will break loose enough to turn but it will have a lot of drag .A Detroit locker will turn if some one holds one wheel but you will hear a clanking sound of the locker ratcheting .

Thanks, that helps a lot. ? I don't have pics of where axle tubes where the U bolts would bolt. Also, horse sense what would it do if it was ad open differential? Only one heel would spin if you turned it right?
