65 mm throttle body

Would putting a 65mm throttle body on a stock intake/stock motor create any noticable gains?

Also, are they hard to put on?

That was one of the first things that I put on and didn't notice any difference other than a slight whistling sound at part throttle.
It felt like it gave the car a little bit better throttle response, but that was probably just in my head.


It's shouldn't be too hard to install, even if it is your first time.

the opening is bigger, so your stock intake tube probably won't fit it.

lower intake is most restrictive (replace the upper at the same time), then the mass air meter housing, then the heads. after those are opened up, then the t/b might make a difference. until then, you are not likely to see much difference.

my 70mm BBK t/b is going on in the next few days.

fwiw, i have my stock mass air meter back on for a few weeks until i can get the injector slopes dialed in, i just replaced my fuel pressure regulator.

No you won't. The 65mm throttle body is bigger than the opening of the stock upper inlet. You would have to port the opening in order for them to mate up perfect. The money would be spent better on another mod like a short shifter or better yet gears (I don't see those in you sig)

like wytstang said, it wont make any diffrence. Once you get an aftermarket Intake then a bigger TB will match up to it. Spend your money else where, either on gears or towards a better intake.

After you get things dialed in and berore you change from your stock maf it would be interesting to see a what your maf values would datalog at max rpm. You would see how close you are to maxing out the stocker.

When starting to mod the motor some parts don't give as much of a power gain as others.

It's kind of a bummer to replace those kind of parts and not be able to feel much if any performance gain and there is the outlay of cash for the parts which just makes it even more disappointing.

See my sig for an example. I did not replace the tb, maf, & catback cause they are low power gain parts.

If your goal is to do the complete NA combo thing then all of the parts will be upgraded by the time you are done.

Not sure what your goals are but IMHO an intake would give you a nice gain and the install is not too hard.

The stock upper is 63mm at the TB runner, so you only have to grind out 1mm from the circumfrence - easy to do your self. Another thing that helps is to grind down the upper intake bolt hole bosses down inside the TB runner, but that is not easily done - need 6" bur bits.
