My friend has a 1965 mustang, he fixed it up for his wife and all is good until she takes it out for a drive. Everytime she drives it the car it vapor locks, just curious if these cars came out with some sort of shield on the tank or near the fuel lines when they were new. That is the only thing we have narrowed it down to because of the way the exhaust is routed.

I have no idea if there was somesort of stock heat shielding, you guys are positive that it's vapor lock?

It shouldn't be too hard to put in some shielding yourself.

He ordered some heat sheild, pretty sure it's a vapor lock, hopefully what he ordered will fix it.

Why not post this in Classic Tech? Or does it have an EFI swap done to it?

vapor lock on an EFI system would be impressive.

That's what I'm thinking. It can happen, but it's not easy to do.

However, he did mention that fuel lines are running near exhaust, that could be a cause.

I didn't even wanna' extrapolate that far ahead (IMHO there wasn't enough info provided to support a vapor lock issue).
