Have or are there any front coil over conversions that mount the coil over to the upper a-arm?

Most if not all conversions have a long coil over that mounts to the lower a-arms.

I haven't done any specific measuring but is there a technical reason the lower coil over mount can't mount in the same location of the stock spring perch and the upper spring goes into the upper spring pocket. The upper shock would mount in the same position. It means somewhat of a short shock coilover assembly.

How much travel is typical in the upper a-arm?

I'm close to starting the reassembly of my car and I have used front coil over conversion in my Camaro and Nova. I like the adjustability of the ride height and rebound rate.

Thanks in advance

I don't know if you have found anything that works yet, but Ron Morris Performance now has a coil over setup out that mounts to the upper control arm. The kit uses a QA1 shock, either single or double adjustable, and the spring is available in either a street or street/track version. Don't know what the rates are. It says they mount to either stock or aftermarket arms. IIRC price is $850.

If anyone has any other info on this kit, or know of someone else who makes one, let us know as I am quite interested in this also.
