66 front springs

Well, I have not touched the car for about 8 weeks. My question is which way do the front springs go in. On one end the coil is tighter. Is the the end the insulator goes on and goes up? Man old age bites. I cant seem to remember how things go anymore.

I read on another site not to use the thick spring insulaters. The person posting this is a mechanic and has worked on many old Ford suspensions. The reason for this is the tabs up top that hold the springs in place do not drop down very far. The thicker insulaters push the springs even farther down and he felt like they could possibly come off. I'm not saying that they could come off but it is a thought.
