I'm 8 months into owning a beautiful 1966 coup with (what I was told at time of buying) the original 200 ci straight six engine. unbelievably, it's given me zero problems. I had a minor leak coming from my fuel pump, and a local mechanic suggested popping a new one on. called CJ parts (in PA) and they shipped me the only one for that engine.
It arrived and it is different than the one on my stang. Mine has a top fuel discharge, and the input comes from the side. The one they sent—and the one confirmed by countless part shops perfect for my alleged 200 ci—is the one sent, which has discharge and input coming from the bottom.
I'm stumped. and wasn't thinking a simple fuel pump was going to be the stumper on this relatively simple engine (I'm coming off a 16 yr run with a 74 bronco 302...)
any ideas? other than running/bending new steel tubing to fit the new pump?
