67-69 Spindles

67 drum and disc, 68-69 drum spindles are all identical, with the exception of the casting numbers. 68-69 disc spindles are unique. also all drum spindles (including 67 disc) from 67-73 are pretty much the same except that 70-73 (also 69 Boss and some Shelbys) spindles have a larger spindle pin that use heavier duty bearings and a larger tie-rod taper, otherwise they are basically the same.

as a side note the 65-66 V8 drum and disc spindles are very similar to the 67-up spindles except the geometry for the steering arms is a little different, it's not advisable to mix spindles and vehicles with different years, though in "most" cases you'd be hard pressed to notice any difference, however there is a known issue using Granada spindles (pretty much the same as the 70-73 stang spindles) on a lowered car with the shelby drop and larger diameter wheels with sticky low profile tires where the front end will rise under hard acceleration and not come back down causing sever toe-in issues.

I can also tell you that the disc brake spindles from a '69 Torino will bolt right up to the v8 '68 UCA & LCA. This is how I converted my '68 from drums to disc. I picked up the complete spindles, calipers, & disc up off ebay for $70.

I'll add to the confusion: I swapped my 67 spindles (drum brakes, 6 cyl, car) for some V8 disc spindles. The V8 spindles were a larger diameter. Being a 67, my car could have had some carry-over parts from the previous year.

i will accept this IF you 67 is a very early production car. otherwise i am betting that you got a set of 70 mustang spindles.

Must have been because I bought new bearings for 67 and they fit. The info here is correct though. One quick way to tell is to look at the bearing section of the NPD catalogue which lists the different thread sizes used. Good info
