Hey everyone, I am just wondering if anyone has replaced or removed the side vents that come on the 67 coupe. I am talking about the ones right infront of the rear wheel well and are 2 peices. I think they look hideous and want to see if anyone has done something different or installed the shelby style scoops??? Any pics, links, or info would be great, thank you very much!!!

you can put a shelby/CS style scoop on the side but a nice thing about the 67 scoops is that you can easily make them "functional"...

Funny how tastes go...those simulated scoops are one of my favorite features of the '67. I like them so much better than the trim peice on the '65, '66, and '68. Go figure.
Anyway, if you remove them (i did for paint) there are of course two big gaping holes that open up to the quarter window cavity on each side that you'll need to do something about.

Agreed they are unique to the 67 and one of my favorite styling features.

PS if you hate them that much I will pay shipping to take them off your hands when you remove them.

Functional? As what, vent into the car, or rear wheels? In the car would be neat, so long as you can close them. How do you do this?

It is to make the side scopes functional as rear brake coolers. However, even when they work they do not work very well because they do not stick out past the car far enough to catch the air.

Check out the eBay Fast Forward Fastback and how the side scoops were modified:http://www.radrides.com/photogallery.php?sub=fastforward&ci=2. These look way better than a bolt on addition.

you can do the fuctional side scoops..but the rear windows have to be sacrificed. I personally like the 67 1/4s better than any other year. Part of what made me get a 67.

I see that they were modified, but it doesnt show me how they were modified??? I bet the just welded plates over the old holes and just smoothed it into the body line. I could probubly make that happen, but I am much better with a welder then I am with bondo... If you have pics of info on how they did that I would like to know, I think they look hot!!!
