Hi all,

I'm trying to put my dash back together with new components. I am having problems with the dash pad. It seems to be interfering in some places, especially around the passenger side trim pannels. The pad is not formed to the dash well, and is preventing the trim from sitting flush and securing properly.

Has anyone else encountered problems with aftermarket dash pads?

I don't have experience working on the dash, but could you try using a heat gun to "coax" the problem areas into fitting?

The repro dash pads are normally made overseas and the foam that forms them gets sprayed onto the part that tucks under the trim. If that is the case use a straight razor blade to clean off the foam from the lip on the dashpad and try to install again. That is the only thing that I have run accross in my dashpad fitting experiences. You may need to trim the lip off a little bit too.

It's a solid Urathane pad, no foam, from Dashes Direct. And it's pretty tuff stuff. It feels like this may have been a molding error. I went to a local mustang shop to take a look at a pad they had there and there are major differences in the molding.

I will contact DD on monday and see what can be done.
