67 fender emblems

I bought my 67 coupe w/o any emblems about 8 years ago. I bought running horse emblems from NPD, but there weren't any holes in the fenders, so being a brilliant 17 year old, I marked where I thought the emblems should go and drilled holes myself. Now 8 years later I figure it is time to fix my mistake, and I want to patch up my holes and start over. Problem is... I can't find a template for 67 fender emblems anywhere... any ideas?

Did you put them on backwards or something? I saw a pic of a 67 with the horse just in front of the door, and the letters between the horse and the wheel.

If anything, find someone with a 67 with the emblems already in place, then make your own rough template from that.

find a original fender and make your own template with construction paper just lay it on the fender and punch the holes lay the paper on your fender and trace the marks and drill your holes and you are done

thanks for the tips... I guess I'll have to try to find an original fender to make a template from. What does kind of bug me is that I spent a lot of money at a restoration shop to have them do some body work and paint for me, and I told them to put the emblems on for me, but they said that my fenders didn't have any holes in them for the emblems. Is it possible that the car originally didn't have emblems?

weren't there differtent pin locations for the 6 and 8 cylinders?? I thought the 289 badge had a different pattern.. or something... Hey if you can't find a fender, give me a PM and i can try to do something for ya... But with the previous statement i think i have 6 cylinder fenders, but i dont have the badges in, just the empty holes...

It is the horse, then the letters between it and the door.

More than likely, it wasn't the body shop that filled them in. It is probably a replacement fender, generic for 67-68 and the holes do not come predrilled in them.

For what it's worth, the GT and GTA models did not have the running horse or "MUSTANG" fender letters. But they would have had some holes lower (where the stripes would have had a gap) for either the "G" and "T" letters (manual trans) or "GTA" emblem (autos).

But the previous poster is probably right...likely replacement fenders.
