67 ignition switch wiring

When turning ignition switch once (+ to accessories) and once again (to run starter), which pins or wires gets connected on 67 coupe? Is there any discussion about this? I can't believe I have not found such wiring diagram showing this.

Also, what is on the threaded fastener at the back of ignition switch (+, ground, or switched +)?

The threaded stud is the accessory position of the switch. Not to be confused with the RUN position of the switch. ACC is one click counter clockwise from OFF (stright up and down.)

Look over the diagrams and post back if you still have a question.

I have this diagram but I cannot read from it what I am looking for.

The switch looks something like this:

.....B


A is the threaded stud, G = possibly ground (should be unused, but I have a magenda wire coming to it).

Can you tell me what two or more pins are switched in 1) off position (key inserted), 2) key turned 1 click, and 3) another click (starter spins)?

It's easier to work from the diagram and wire colors. I'm guessing at the letter codes, never really paid any attention to that. B is battery supply wire 21 Yellow, S is the solinoid relay wire 32 red w/blue stripe, A must be accessory threaded stud on the back, C is charge wire 904 Green w/red stripe goes to the voltage regulater, And we are out of letters, but the last wire is wire 16 Red w green stripe goes to the coil, but is shown in the diagram with a resistor in line, so it leave the switch pink (which is the actual resistor wire), or it leaves Red w/green for a short length and then changes to pink, and back to Red w/green and on out to the coil. There is more to this circuit, but it gets a little more complex.
What exactly are you working on? It may be easier to help if we know what the problem is.

Just doublechecking to make sure that once I hook battery and turn the key I won't see sparks all around, and possibly start the engine right away (breaking in new cam)

ignition wiring ID's

This may have been answered somewhere but i am totally confused. I have a 1967 Mustang and I need to connect a wire to the ignition switch where it is hot when it is in the "ON" and "START/CRANK" position. Can someone ID the wires in the Diagram attached? Thank u all for your help

The reason you don't see details on which wire goes to which connector is it isn't supposed to work that way. The ignition switch connects to a single rubber plug that makes it impossible to connect them wrong.

If your plug is missing, you can get a new one.

mine is missing, so which terminal do i need to connect my wire to that is hot when "ON" and "START/CRANK"? thank u

If you really have to run the engine before you get the replacement plug, don't even try to wire the switch. The pink wire is the power to the coil, and you can just start the engine at the solenoid under the hood. And send for a new plug right away. Really, even if I was certain which wires connected to which terminals, it's not safe to have individual wires connected there.

i just placed in order for the plug. but the wire i need to to connect to to the ignition terminal that is hot when "ON" and "START/CRANK" is for an EFI harness. so once i get the plug, where should i connect the EFI wire ?

Ah, you need something that's powered only when the starter is engaged. Just run a temporary lead to the "I" terminal on the solenoid.

Thank u for the help. y do u say temporary ? i need this to be permanent for the EFI harness. It also needs to be hot when the switch is "ON" or "Crank" position. The instructions states to connect it to the ignition switch. If i connect it to the S terminal will that be hot during "ON" and "CRANK" or just during "CRANK" ?
i am not very electrically inclined and i apologize for the many Q's, i just like to double check and not blow anything up.

Yeah, well I gotta eat some crow here. You need to re-look at my posts, because I should have been saying the "I" terminal all along. Somehow I typed the wrong thing the first time, and my aging brain just kept repeating the error. I fixed 'em, but of course I can't fix your quotes.

As for the connections, the Ford diagram, or the color one above will tell you. The plug you are getting is the 3-wire 64-66 style, you'll need to splice two of the wires on your dash harness to one of the wires on the new plug. No big deal.
