Okay, I have a 67 coup. Pulled out the 289 because it was getting really old and tired when I ran into a deal on a 429 boss block, cj head and a scj aluminum intake. The car has been running for several years. The starter went out. Pulled it out and tested it. It did not spin. Got a new one. Installed it after checking that it did spin. Now only clicking at the silanoid. Tried jumping the posts, no luck, just clicking. Got a new silanoid and installed it. Same thing. Cleaned all wires and checked connections. Same thing. Only clicking at the silanoid. Thought perhaps I got a another bad silanoid and got another one. Same thing, only clicking when jumping the posts or using the key. Put the battery in my 5.0. Started fine. Again, checked all wires for corosion and connections. Nothing appeared to be bad. Because of the lack of space in the engine compartment, I put the battery in the trunk and ran 00 wire from the battery to the silanoid. I have the wire fastened to the extended frame underneath. Checked the entire length without any breaks, signs of arcing or corosion. I've done everything I can think of. I just can't immagine that two bran new silanoids would be bad. Any ideas?
