I want to check numbers on a 68 Cobra Jet I am looking at. Is there anyway to check the vin tags under the front fenders without removing them? Mirror? Where exactly are they located? Also want to check the date codes on the block. I included a photo of the date code by the oil filter. The 8D1 seems right for a build date of april 17th on the vin. But what is the W1? Any help would be appreciated.

There should be a VIN tag on the driver's side fender apron. It is placed in the notched opening of the fender, viewable with hood open, fender still in place. 68's should also have a VIN tag on the dash, as well as the driver's side door. What does the VIN on the title say??

I think by 1968 that the VINs were removed from the fender aprons and only existed on the dashboards.
