So.... Story's too long so I'll try to make it shortish. Purchased a beautiful 01 cobra with a blown motor and I put my built 98 teksid in and all was good (motor only had 50 miles on it). Until.. I burned the radio noise capacitor on the EGR tube. The first time this happened it was blowing the ECU fuse, figured out the issue, all was good.
Driving to work one day, the same wire burned on the EGR, yes I know, and shut the car down totally. Didn't hear the fuel pump priming so I replaced the pump l, still no prime. I didn't find the burned wire until about a week ago (fixed that) while diagnosing the car and 3 of the wires that go to the coils were stuck together but the insulation wasn't burned through so I figured those wires were still good (ended up cutting part of those wires out of the harness after noticing the wired was trashed under the insulation and basically fell apart in my hand after I cut it out). I was getting a crank no start with no codes until a week later +b ignition run circuit open code popped up but only on the on board diagnostic. I replaced the ignition switch and ccrm and the code went away but still no start.
Got a code a couple days later for the fuel pump drive module, replaced that, pump primes every time now, replace coils, fuel filter, everything else on the car is new except the injectors but I shot starting fluid and the car still didn't respond so I doubt it's a fueling issue, but crazier things have happened. Car will start, but dies after 2 seconds with no gas pedal but sounds like it's running on 2 cyl. I've checked spark, all seems good and the injectors are getting the signal to run, and literally every circuit/sensor on the car checks out. Have done compression test and it's 130psi across the board. (18cc dished pistons so the compression will be down a bit more than "normal"
I did notice on my cheapy obd tool that the bank1 sensor1 O2 sensor has .075v and won't budge no matter what, also that bank 1 sensor is new along with a new oil pressure sensor and iat. and all the other sensors has 0.000v. they're supposed to without the car running no?
I've checked everything and when my buddy brings his laptop over, the car throws a
d147 code ( or
p1260)
communication issue pertaining to the PATS(Ford factory security system). The car has 50k miles and the wiring has never been touched, compression test was 125psi +/-5 across the board so I'm ruling out any grounds or other wiring issues (everything had 5v reference although I wouldn't doubt it changed in the last few days. We reset the ECU with both keys so pats isn't an issue (contrary to popular belief). Compression test was 125psi +/-5 (18cc dished pistons so compression will be a bit lower than "normal") across the board. I've checked as much harness as I can and nothing seems off so I'm at a loss. I wanted to ask you guys before I take it to the shop. This is the first mustang in history I haven't been able to get to run after an issue (had 5 foxes and a vortech 98 cobra vert) and I've never seen these issues that I hear a lot of guys have and now I'm having them all.
I figure it's the ECU (have one on its way) but I've opened it up and nothing seems a miss, not that it means much, but just wondering if anyone has any insight. Any info would be appreciated. I almost don't want to tell the shop any of this so they can diagnose with a clear mind.
Is the SCP DATA -bus (PIN 15 circuit 915) a ground or just return for the signal?
