I had my cousin replace a 69 quarter...A little different but similar.

You can cut out the old with many different types of cutting tools. If the interior is stripped a plasma cutter is the best way..But if you dont have a plasma cutter use a grinder...Ive even seen someone use air shears.

Someone had posted a link to a website for a guy that done his 69 fastback. He cut out parts of the old panel. Tack welded the new panel over top..Then cut the new and old panels at the same time so that the new fit the old hole..

Im not sure how the replacement full quarters fit...But I have recently used replacement fenders and quarter skins...The fit is ok but is definitely not a 100% fit.

I am currently doing this "fix" myself. I havent seen the Mustang Unlimited panel you are talking about, so I can't help there. But, what I did to remove my panel was cut out the large pieces with a sawzall and used a hammer and cold chisel to remove the remaining spot welds. The welds were drilled prior to removal with a spot weld drill bit.
How far up the quarter are you replacing? It makes a diffence as to where you cut. DO NOT use a sawzall or plasma cutter on the top part of the quarter above the body line. The area behind the window opening and before the air intake has a supporting structure behind it very close to the outer skin. A cold chisel and hammer are best used in this area.

Good Luck

I was going to cut and replace only the lower skin, the upper portion does need to be replaced but I think I can do it with normal sheetmetal work. I was going to order the coupe skin, to see if the lower was the same(I think it should be) and just cut around that.

Good! The upper portion is a pain. Is this body damage, or rust? And how are you planning on putting the two pieces together? Done correctly nobody should be able to tell it has been replaced.(At least thats what I keep telling myself! )lol. I used a skin on one years ago and it was very hard to see where it had been worked on.

OOps! forgot to include in my previous post...
Here is the link to that 69 mentioned eairlier.

and here is another usefull repair site for different types of repair.

Also, after looking at the skins/ vs full quarter issue. IMO the full quarter seems to give a better fit. Just don't trim directly on the body line. Give yourself a few inches toward the wheel opening. It is much eaiser to get the panel to "blend" in this area than to try to rebuild the line at the top of the quarter
