I am the new owner of a 68 mustang and I am not a mechanic and learning about the car as I go......

When we bought the car it appeared to have no real mechanical problems of note.....but shortly after we drove it home (which was a distance) we noticed 2 things.....

- It was becoming increasingly hard to put the car in reverse....putting into other gears was no problem.....there were no odd noises if we were going straight....but once we put the car into reverse and then every time we stopped we would hear a noise coming from underneath the car....

- Just recently reverse went completely out

Transmission?

do reverse gears even have a synchro? since revese has the extra gear, it spins in revese, so i dont see how a synchro would help.

haha, im used to calling em synchros from my VW site....i just meant the gear...

sounds like you need a new servo to me...its a lil circular thing that screws into the left side of the transmission....or shift linkage
