Hi all, great site you have here. Good tech resource except that I couldn't find an answer to my specific question in the archives. I'll give you all an intro before I get too carried away. The attached picture is my wife's 69 Mach 1, 351W A/T. It has been a great car and has been her daily driver in the past (soon to be again).
Other vehicles: I have a 52 IH pickup with a BB mopar. It still needs a lot of work. The next project car is a 50 Ford 2d Sedan that will have a 401 Buick Nailhead mill.
The wife is also buggin me lately about getting a hardtail motorcycle - triumph, or bsa, old school style bobber or chopper.
My background is in mechanics but I now work as a police officer. My wife is a graphic designer. She owns her own sign business but works full time as a customer service rep. for a large corporation.
Anyhow, here is my question: This has happened in the past...the driver's side window will fall out of the tracks. In the past we had a local body guy fix it but after doing this 2-3 times I figured I would do it myself. I realized that the body guy was just band-aiding the problem and simply gluing the window back in instead of fixing the problem. The problem is that the grease on the upright guides is all old and dry and it is causing friction to the point that the window is being pulled from the tracks over time. I cleaned the guides back up but now I need to re-install the window. When I took the window out, there was some sort of cork material in the runners that hold the window...I can't find this stuff anywhere. What do I have to do to re-install the window in the runners...what kind of glue should I use...and is this cork material that provides somewhat of a cushion for the window available anywhere?
