7.5 Rear end question?

All of the Fox 5.0 Mustangs (except the 93 Conra and maybe the turbo coupe super edition I am blanking out on) came with 8.8 rear ends and a LSD WITH 4 lug axles. Your wheels will not have to be changed, nor the front end parts. A wiki search will tell you for sure, but it seems like 85 was the first year the GT got the 8.8”.
The "5.0" came in the Fox Mustang in 1979 and 1982-1993. (1994 and 1995 also had a 5.0 but it was not "Fox", it was "SN95".) The 8.8 came in 1986 and newer V8 (including LX 5.0L and Cobra, not just "GT") Fox Mustangs. So 1979 and 1982-1985 did not have an 8.8", they had a 7.5", and only 1982+ had LSD. 1979 did not.

I’m not sure of the intent of your reply. I should have stated it differently that I was mostly thinking of the E7, 87- 93 foxes as 5.0 cars. My 79 said 5.0 on the fender, but had more in common with older 302’s. The limited slip in my 79 was a Ford part I swapped in before 8.8’s were fairly available and affordable.
The main thing the OP needs to know the 8.8” rear in Mustangs came with four lugs, so no front parts will need swapped when the rear is bolted in to keep matching wheels. And you posted what years to look for, thank you.
The quad shocks are another issue, but the brackets for them should not prevent an 8.8” from going into a 7.5” car.
