You'll need the correct timing cover and use a reverse rotation water pump with that conversion kit. That 77 Windsor timing cover and water pump is a std. rotation setup. The timing cover you need is found on any 79-93 V8 Stang, or mid 80's or so pickup or van with either a 302 or 351

You can drill the hole for the dipstick in the newer covers, there's a flat spot there where the hole would be on an older cover

You HAVE to have a reverse rotation timing cover as well, otherwise you're going to have cooling problems from the coolant not flowing well.

If it helps, I have a timing chain cover that I have been using for a while now. It has round holes and is not specifc on standard or reverse drive water pumps. I have used both. I am now using a 88 5.0 water pump which is reverse rotation, and I am guessing is only 7 bolts due to the fact is does not have three bolt holes around each water port, but the timing chain cover has all three. I just stuck it on, and bolted it to the cover and haven't had any leaks, visible, or internally. Hope it helps.
