I went to check out a 70 Mustang (supposed to be a Mach 1)

but the pics I saw on the dealer site weren't quite as good as in person ....

the description of the car is

"Mach I, 351, “05” Body Code, Mag 500’s, Spoilers, Louvers, Stock, Nice Body & Paint, Drives Excellent, Automatic, Power Steering."

Here's the pics I got from the dealer:

well I went

to say the least, the car was a disappointment

both quarters were full of bondo

the rear wheel wells looked like someone took undercarriage paint and slapped it on thick with a paint brush

not to mention, its not the right color paint

(and I've never seen a Mach 1 with white stripes ... am I wrong or was there other colors besides black stripes ???)

I dont guarantee this to be right since its from my '68 shop manual:

0T05H106984

0 = 1970 model
T = Metuchen assembly plant
05 = ? (body serial code)
H = ? (engine code)
106984 = consecutive unit number

The engine in that pic is a Windsor of some kind.

if the car is full of bondo and you dont think its worth it, than the price is too high. but if it really is a mach 1 and stuff is correct, its obviously worth it. since its a dealer, they are probably just trying to get some dumb*%$ to buy it without knowing whats really going on. its worth it to a dealer to buy a thousand dollar maaco paint job to sell a car for 10 thousand more dollars. i have been the dumbass before. move on, its sounds like u know what your looking for.

Quickest way to tell from pictures on a Clevland vs Windsor is the upper radiator hose takes a 90 degree turn straight down into the engine.Windsor from that angle

in 70 the h code 351 2bbl was a windsor, so it could very well be the original engine. they didn't start using the cleveland on the 2bbl cars till late in the 70 model year

About not finding one yet,
But I saw that one one Ebay not long ago for the 19.5 buy it now,
Even with not real close inspection of the pic's,
I knew it wasn't worth it.

Just be glad you didn't buy it Now!

At least it sounds like you know what you want, Just keep looking it will come.......

yeah

if thats the same one I'm thinking of .... I bid on that car for a little while

Was it blue with black interior ?

It turned out to be a 70 Fastback with a 302 and was a clone BOSS car

It was in really good shape, but I stopped bidding around 8500 and I dont think it went above 15K (no sale)

this is the car I am referring to:

No the one you showed with the white stripes,
I remember the white int and the Stripe on the hood is too wide under the scoop.

The "Boss" with the Automatic............ no I did see that one too.

Let the Buyer Beware.................

It should be Let the Buyer be Aware.

Car doesn't look too bad. They'll probably get 18,500 for it.
