70 Mach 1 master cylinder change???

I attempted to change the master cylinder in the Mach 1 (power brakes 428 cj) yesterday, and it won't clear the shock tower. Do I have to let the Power brake booster go?

1967 Manual Drum Brakes , replaced the master cylinder and the brake light switch but the brakes lights stay on.
