I recently changed the fluid on my 8.8.. Now the pumpkin is wet looking and I get about 1 drip per day on the garage floor. Any ideas? There is no fliud showing anywhere areound the diff cover. I originally thought it might be the pinion seal, but the pumpkin is wet above the pinion. Signs point to the drain plug cuz thats where the oil starts to show, but the plug went in smoothly and tightened well.. definately not stripped. Do I need to use pipe tape? What else could it be?

Well, the Haynes manual doesn't specify to use sealant on the filler plug, but if that's where it's leaking from, you'll need to do something. Just don't overdo it with plumber's tape or liquid pipe sealant. You don't want that in the rear end oil...
