I've broke down and bought a powertrax locker to go in my 8 inch rear, and I have a few questions.

1. How much gear oil does the 8" rear require?

2. With the powertrax locker (no clutches) do I need to run a gear oil with a friction addative?

3. I've got a new chunk gasket and figured while it was off I'd change the pinion seal. How hard is it to swap out the pinion seal, and will I have to worry about setting the gear lash if I take the pinion out to swap the seal?

Thanks for your help guys, I cant wait to lay down some rubber from both tires!!

I've got the powertrax no slip in my 8" right now. It's pretty smooth except in tight parking lot turns - it ratchets. As for additives, you don't need any, just buy a good synthetic gear oil. Not sure how much I used.

You just fill it to until it starts coming out of the fill hole.

You'll need just under 3 qts. I'd use the lube powertrax recommends, no friction modifier IIRC.
