I was told that this is the best place to ask. Does anyone have an 8" posi unit with the 3.55 gears. I just found one for myself and my buddy needs one as well. Do you guys know anyone who would want to sell one? Thanks. Can you PM me if you do?

The classic forum might be a better place, but you can post a WTB thread in the classified section.

In 12 years of looking I've found 1...and it still had a whole car attached that I didn't want to go through parting out and didn't have the spare money to buy the whole car.

I got mine off ebay (8" posi, 3:55 gears), I think it was around ~$400, and it was the whole center section or pumpkin, whatever its called.

This is who i got it from.

"jmmarketing" they seem to be a business.

8"

My question for you guy is why you are sooooo gung ho on this 3.55 gears. If I was you I'd get an 8" housing and just put some aftermarket Richmond gears in there whith an Auburn possi and you'll have one mean 3rd member. Thats what I did and I'm really happy with it.

Likely because for 4-500 bux they'll have a (presumably) ready-to-run rear, versus $200+ for R&P, plus setup ($260 locally), plus the carrier.

Local shop wanted $485+ tax for a 3.42 R&P swap in my Chebby, I can buy a complete 3.42 rear for $250 pretty much anywhere.

Check with Bert's Auto Salvage (Hermiston, OR) 1-800-854-1455 refer to Stock # 980658. It says it's 3.55 not sure about the Posi.

$260 to set up an 8" ??

What a racket.

I hope they have the courtesy of throwing in a reacharound, or at least a kiss.
