How many bolts is a stock steering wheel on a 81? I am seeing 3 bolt but it doesnt look like there are any on my stock wheel. I am looking for a racing steering wheel that is a direct fit. Thanks everyone,
None direct fit. You'll need an adapter hub. I'm not even sure a correct adapter hub exists for 79-83
Stock setup is a single bolt behind the horn pad. Once you remove the bolt, use an appropriate steering wheel puller to remove the wheel. After that, you'll need a hub adapter for a 79-83 Mustang. The later 84-89 adapter won't work on the earlier hub and many aftermarket hubs incorrectly state 79-04.
