83' mustang alternator upgrade, need help!

I have an 83' GT and I want to upgrade my alternator to a 3G but I can't find any info on it. It is different than the 87-93 alternator. Has anyone out there done this upgrade? I need help, I just added a full set of Auto meter gauges to the dash and an electric fan plus I already had the stereo and amps and I'm planning to add power locks and possibly some fog lamps.

Oh, I don't have a ton of cash so the junk yard is probably where I'll be shopping.

Want to be cheap??
Take your Alternator to an Altornator shop and have them upgrade it to a 90 amp alternator, should be able to get it done for under $100, and no modifications are necessary. I did this on my 82 10 years ago because of voltage issues and the alternator is still on the car and working fine.
