I just installed a Motorcraft 2 bbl carb on my 83 V6. The previous owner had a 4bbl holley on it via an adapter plate, and the car was running very rich.
After installing the new correct carb, I noticed there was no linkage for the transmission kickdown lever. I borrowed a piece from the Holley, but my question is how much play is this lever supposed to have? Meaning, when you connect the bar to the pivot linkage, should it be very tight, or somewhat loose so the lever can pivot? When I drove it home last nite, she kept upshifting on me even though I wasnt stepping hard on the throttle.
I had the connection to the kickdown bar very tight, now after driving it I think I did something wrong. Is there a different linkage I should buy? Please help.
