I have a 84 w/auto and a 302 4barrel. The problem is it will not turn over. I started it Sat morning and let it run for about 15 minutes and shut it off. I went out later in the day and nothing,it will not turn over. So I charged the battery over night and the next day nothing. Ithought it was the igntion switch so bought and installed ,nothing. The horn, lights ,wipers work. Next I bought a new solenoid ,nothing. I can jump over the solenoid and it will turn over.Any ideas. I thing is that the previous owner bypassed the automatic trans, switch by putting a jumper wire in the plug,I have no idea why he bypassed it.I checked the wires and seemed okay.Still no turn over.Help...I am thinking this bypass is causing the proble. I do not have a wiring diagram. Have a Chiltons manual no wiring diagrahm.Any Idea where to get a wiring diagram. Thanks in advance. What wires would I wire together to by pass this switch

Can you at least go to the switch that is jumpered and see if you have 12V while cranking going into (and out of) the switch? That would tell you which direction to go.

Or test for cranking 12V into the solenoid trigger. It sounds like that's missing but it's wise not to assume.

If u are getting a click when turning the switch then you might also want to check the starter to be sure it didn't lock up and make sure it is tight. And hissin is right, make sure voltage is going through to the starter from the switch. And what auto trans do you have. depending on what type it may explain why the guy before you jumped the wires
