I got the oil leak fixed underneath of the intake manifold, but now the car is idling rather strangely. It has a 750 holley carb on it, and I start it up, and it idles around 1500 rpm,up to 2100rpms, then down to about 1000rpms, then I have to stay on the gas, or it will stall out. after I take it for a short drive, the rpms go as far down as about 100 rpms,(not 1000, 100). After the car is shut off, it is hard as hell to get started, it sounds like there is low juice, (new battery), and the engine just barely wants to turn over, but if you pump the gas, and keep cranking, it will fire, but just barely. Now my questions are, could incorrect ignition timing play a role in this? (I dont have a timing light, so when I took the distributor out, I timed it by eye, it's off a little, I think it is retarded, the car doesnt have the snap that it did). My other question is, how do you set the idle speed on a holley carb? Any help will be greatly appreciated, Thanx

well timing will def. have an effect on idle performance... possibly a vacuum leak also... get a timing light as soon as possible as i suspect thats your problem. as far as setting the idle on a carb. model i dont know how... wait till someone can chim in on that one... Good luck!!!
