84 Stang, Clutch pedal effort to high

Hey guys, I'm new here and currently dont own a fox body mustang, but I am in the market for one.

I do have a question about a car I test drove today. I was a 1984-1/2 20th Anniversary edition car. 302 - 5speed. Car has around 100,000 miles but its in amazing condition. I swear it looks like a 5 year old car instead of a 25 year old car. Body and paint are great, interior is perfect, nice custom wheels, runs great, drives great.

Only problem is the clutch pedal effort is rediculous ! Its like my right leg, right arm is driveing a nice modern car, easy power steering, nice power brakes, but the left leg is driveing a Mac truck or something. The pedal effort for the clutch way to high for me. (maybe I'm getting old) I was ready to buy the car till I drove it. I cant imagine driveing it in traffic like that, my leg wouldn't like it at all.

Is there a reason for the high effort ? Is there a solution like putting in a different clutch disk/pressure plate to give a lighter pedal feel ?
The car will be street driven only, and the car is basically stock except for magnaflow exhaust.

Any suggestions for a specific clutch and/or cost involved (parts only) would be appreciated. If theres not an easy cost effective solution this issue will keep me from buying the car.

Is there a Ford non-adjustable cable on the vehicle?

? not sure, I didn't think to check. I don't really know the fox body mustangs very well, this would be my first one, so I didnt know what to look as far as the cable.

I've had mustangs before but they were 66's so they were very different.

The best cable is a Ford non-adjustable unit. If you look under the car at the clutch fork and see an adjusting nut on the end of the cable, a new (non-adjustable) cable and Firewall adjuster *could* be all it takes to reduce the pedal effort a good bit.
