84 SVO?

I'm currently looking at an 84 SVO with 96k on it. The factory wheels have been removed, and the rear spoiler is not complete; it has only the bottom decklid part. It has some rust around the bottoms of the doors, but other than that seems to be fairly nice. Asking price is $1200...I think it's a fair deal...what do you guys think?

Yeah, I think that we are definitely going to go take a look at it. The guy said someone had offered him $1200 for it, and if no one else makes an offer, that he will probably take it. So we will most likely try for $1400 or so.

I hope it's as nice as he claims it is. We will definitely be going in the daytime, and giving it a real close inspection. Especially with the doors being rusted somewhat, I want to take a real good luck underneath at the frame, and the torque boxes, just to make sure there's no rust there. If it's pretty bad, I may just buy it to part...

I hate that the factory rims are no longer on it. They're ugly as I don't know what, but they are a factory piece still, which equals $$$, lol.

svos are a pretty good findin good condition but make sure there is no crash damage. if i were you the first thing i would look at is the header panel (plastic piece that holds the headlights) because its a tough piece to find and after a crash may not have been replaced. otherwise welcome -marcin

The guy claims that it runs great, doesn't smoke (we'll just see about that!), etc. Hoping to go look at it one night this week, before it gets gone...these things don't just come around every day in my area...people like to hang onto em.

I should follow up-
On the song and dance it depends on how good you look and Perform.
I know for me I have tried the song and dance route, but I must not be a good singer, or dancer, as the price always seems to double!!! :D

After picturing you singing and dancing, I can understand why:shock:

LOL...I should probably stay away from any singing and dancing. If it looks good I'll just show him the cash! For me, that seems to be the most effective method:D

We haven't gotten to go check it out yet; it's hard to go see anything after work in the winter time (we work til 5pm), and I refuse to look at a car at night...way too easy to miss some possibly important stuff. We're hoping to go this weekend, if it isn't sold by then, which it probably will be, with my luck.

SVO1- your car looks like a really nice, solid car!

Thanks for the Compliment!
She is showing her age a bit, I hope to Media Blast her in the next few years and re-paint her. The one nice thing is every owner has used her as a fair weather only toy, so the underside looks like new :)
But for now she is perfect for cruising and shows and such.
I Miss the 84 I also had, it was pretty much identical, but the Ex wife took it in the divorce.

I would like to find another one some day, but as of now I have a few too many!

I'm jealous. I'm trying to organize a time to go look at an SVO myself. I figure if I'm going to have a Fox3 again, it might as well be unique.

The car is actually advertised for sale, but the owner isn't being real cooperative with the "organizing" part. I'm reluctant to just drop it until I know if its solid or not. SVOs dont come up real often around here.

65- I agree, that is always the worst part for me, Once I know it's out there, I have to see it before I can let it go . (which would explain why my Fiancee' made me drive 30 miles away at midnight to look at an 83 Convertable that was in a field for sale because the guy had no idea what engine it had, but that it was a 5 peed, so therefore I could not sleep with visions of it being a Turbo GT).
I personally get this stupid warm feeling when I know an SVO is going to a good home.
Maybe it is because I had the misfortune of looking at the gutted hulks of the 6 SVO's my local Butcher destroyed :(

Thats just sad. I know there's an SVO preservation site somewhere and you'll get crucified if you try to part out a "restorable" SVO. I saw someone on Ebay selling tons of SVO body/cosmetic parts and when I looked at the auction, they were all on a running, driving car! :nonono:

Bleh, I think I'm going to bug the guy with the local SVO until he says its either sold or no longer for sale. I hate when sellers waffle about it and waste my time.

Its only the 4th SVO I've seen in the Antelope valley in person too.

I THINK SHE SHOULD BUY THE LITTLE STANG THAT COULD...EVEN IF IT TURNED OUT TO BE (GULP) A PARTS CAR. WOW! THAT HURTS TO SAY THAT. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG. EVEN IF IT CHI-TI CHI-TI BANG BANGED DOWN THE ROAD. I THINK SHE'LL MAKE HER MONEY AND THEN SOME, IN THE WORSE CASE.

You're probably right. $1200 isnt a common price, unless the car doesnt run.

I think the guy that has the SVO I looked at today doesnt want to sell it. He's hard as hell to reach and doesnt return my calls; only his brother and father answers the phone.  .
