ya'll know, non intercooled. Im thinking around 95-120 thousand miles. Runs but despiratly needs a rebuild. How much do you guys think i should offer the guy. and do you think a newly rebuilt a4ld would be alright?

Is it a whole car or only motor? I wouldnt go more than about $500 for the complete car, and that is way high (depending on where you live). As for the tranny that is simple...NO! Those cant handle more than about 30hp at the crank...haha. Ditch it for a T5, its the only way to go.

its just the engine, the guy told me "its 400 for just the basic longblock" and i was thinking in my head IS THIS GUY INSANE. o ya its only the engine and computer

I paid $175 for mine. Mine is out of an 87 TC, so it has a few better features to begin with. I'd try to talk him down. Show him $150 cash (in 20's) and a case of beer and see how it goes!
