My 85 mustang is pretty bland and was wondering how well this one would do with nitrous being factory carbed.

anything i should do before i do it?

ima newb when it comes to nitrous on the mustangs, ive installed plenty of kits on imports without any problems - driver errors.

anyways thanks

If your in the market for a nitrous kit for a carb'd car, i have one for sale---cheap.

anyway, a step one colder plug is always good. make sure that your fuel system is running good too. octane booster.

Nitrous express and Compucar make the best NOS carb kits out IMHO. Most others tend more towards fuel injection and having stopped doing as much research on and with carbs.

Three rules to follow...

1) Make sure the fuel system is able and ready and not running lean.

2) Retard the timing 2-3 degree's for every 50hp you make with the jetting. So with 100hp jet you want 4-5 degree's took out. (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this).

3) Go with a colder plug and dont use any platinum tipped plugs.

I say go for it, I agree with using NX, put as much nitrous to it as you think it could possibly handle or whatever these guys say to do.

The stock fuel system should be good for 125hp and your bottom end should handle it. Running a little rich when using NOS is not a bad thing, running lean is when it gets you.

Upgrading your fuel pump, checking fuel pressure and checking the air/fuel ratio should be something you do if you plan on running over 125hp.
To check your motor and see how much it can handle.. do a compression check and a leak down test over night. This will let you know.

I'm restoring a 85' LX Coupe now and plan on running the NX kit with a 100hp shot. If the motor gives up the ghost I will use a 150hp shot after rebuilding it.

I had a friend who ran NOS all the time on an old truck they had and it never blew up, they kept the timing retarded and made sure it was running richer than normal and dogged the hell out of that poor old truck. It was 76' F100 with 302 and C4. There at the end the trans lost 2nd gear, but it was so low geared it did not matter much LOL!!
