85mm C&L MAF (worthless or beneficial)
I have been doing research on this topic and I am getting more confused with each fact I uncover
I will start off with listing my Mods so you know what I have:
Year: 2003
Model: Mustang GT
Mods: 2003 GT Auto
Steeda Underdrive Pullies
MAC Pro-Chamber
Steeda Timing adjuster
Magnaflow Catback system
FRP 3.73 gears
Bilstein HD shocks
K&N filter
2003 Cobra Bilstein Struts
Upper and Lower Control arms
FRP Aluminum Driveshaft
PA Valve body
Biggest tranny cooler I could fit
C&L 85mm MAF
Accufab Throttlebody 75 mm
Dragon Plenum
180 degree thermostat
Custom burnt chip
I recently added the Dragon, Throttle Body and 85mm MAF.. but since adding the C&L my car has been acting up a bit, when I slow down at stop signs my idle pulse's and my car seems a little slower.. I contacted a local tuner here in Vegas and his response to the C&L MAF (same tuner that burnt my chip so he knows my car)
The plenum and 75 TB are definitely making power, but the 85mm MAF is
something you can do without. Your stock 80mm MAF is not causing a
restriction, and the MAF transfer function / fuel trims will be spot on
with your stock MAF. The C&L meters usually make the car run leaner
(making more power) initially, but over the course of 2-3 drive cycles,
the car will actually run richer (Ford's adaptive strategy, long story).
I'm thinking if my A/F ratios were dead on before, (adjusted on DYno and burnt into my custom chip) and with me having no forced induction a C&L MAF gives me no benefit?? Won't my cars ECU adapt ??
This is a $270 part, I would really like to know if its Snake Oil, or if my car just didn't like it!! I have disconnected my battery and let it reset, but my idle is choppier, and I'm really not satisfied!!
