found an '86 GT convertible locally for what sounds like a fair price. not sure of mileage yet, other than "over 100,000 miles". ad says it "runs strong". auto trans (ad says it's been rebuilt), the motor for the vert top is shot but the top is supposedly in good shape. body is supposed to be in good shape but the interior is not as good. i'm going to look at it this afternoon and i'll get all of the "condition" questions answered. what would these cars genereally go for in rough condition? according to NADA they run $5200+ for low retail??

once i look at it this afternoon i'll be able to better pinpoint the true condition of the car. i'm mainly looking for a worst case scenario of what i should pay.

i got a good deal...

a two owner, 133k, auto, 5.0, lx coupe in very nice condition, all original down to the air silencer.
i paid 2200...

i wouldn't pay 5200 unless it had major upgrades, a blower, and was very clean. just my .02

the guy is not asking anywhere near 5200 but i was shocked to see they are booked at that price. if i can score it for under a grand, would it be a good deal (assuming it isn't a train wreck....and w/o seeing it yet, that could be a BIG assumption)?

$900.

also, just looked at some other '86 GT pics on the net and noticed he didn't use a pic of his own car! he cropped a pic that someone else posted. i'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt that maybe he doesn't have a digital camera :D

he did say that he does have the title though. that's a good start :nice:
