on a 96 that would be a waste. Save for the head swap kit.

86mm??? 75mm starts talking hp OFF your car unless you are running a setup with a blower. With 86mm you should be running a serious drag car.

I think this forums needs a spelling bee. That way it'll at least look like people over 12 type responses here

Any TB would be worthless on a 96 GT. Even on my 99 Gt the TB didnt do anything.....If he Insists on getting a TB I say dont go bigger than 75mm......Personally I would save up for a Head swap...you Ask what kind of heads...The 99+ heads, cams, and intake can be bought for $400 - $500 and will give him about 30 rwhp....the best bang for the buck for a 96-98 Gt besides Nitrous..

So it would be best to buy the 99+ Heads, cam, and intake? And it will be $400-500 each part?

Just curious...How would the new cams work arent they DOHC? or am I missing something?

yes you are missing a lot.

The 99+ heads are called PI heads, Power Improved. The the motors have 2 cams total. Hence the name SOHC(Single Over Head Cam). DOHC(Dual Over Head Cams) have 2 cams in each head. 4 valve, meaning 4 valves for each cylinder(2 intake, 2 Exhaust) while 2 valve means, 2 valves in each cylinder. One intake and one exhaust, like any normal head.

The PI head and intake combo is worth over 40+ rwhp to a 96-98 car. The PI heads, cam and intake flow more air and produce a hell of a lot more top end pull. The cams are, Duration @ .050 192/184 Lift .535/.505 LSA 114.

Do not waste the money on the throttle body on a 96-98 car. It wont do ****.

there is no 86mm t-body for the 4.6L. your friend may be thinking of the Ford Racing one for the 351/460/512.

Dark Knight GT

I agree with the other guys. An 86mm throttle body is too much and you should save the money for something else. You can probably buy a set of gears and have them shipped to your door for less than you would pay for a new throttle body.
