87--93 Factory Recalls

yeah, the ignition switch thing was on almost all Fords, Taurus, Tempo, Aerostar, ect. from like 87-90 or 91.

I can't really think of any other recalls done on these cars.

I am still waiting for the ashtray door recall.

TFI coils, ignition switches and yes the GT fog light switch that would literally melt the plastic when it went.

Recalls that should have been made.....

brakes, body metal, the dope scope in the ceiling, ashtray doors, crappy seat frames and just a butt ugly square looking car overall

So if I found a promblem on my car and it was a re-call that wasnt done will Ford install it for free? Let's find some kind of list. I'll love to pull into a Ford dealership with my car and complain about re-calls.

There has to be more my sister already had her Focus in for atleast a dozen recalls.

My 88 GT had a Ford Authorized Modifications decal on the fan shroud that said ''Exhaust system catalyst inspected and replaced". I believe the date on the sticker was 1993.

Also, Ford never issued a recall about the GT foglights. I guess they figured that people wont use them for extended periods of time. They did, however, issue a TSB (technical service bulletin) about it.

I believe The MustangWorks has a complete recall and TSB list  if I remember right.

Check this out
I was looking at all the TSB's at my work one day and noticed this one:

Mustangs 302 HO with forged pistons (Pre 93)
Had a TSB (technical Service Bullitin)
That basically said that if (only IF) the customer complained of early cold morning piston slap for the first few seconds at engine start up (cluck cluck cluck etc)
The dealer was supposed to install the updated hypereutiectic pistons at no charge (new pistons for 93).
The softer metal of these pistons made operation of the pistons quieter.

Just thought that was crazy.
Makes me wonder how many Pre 93 Mustangs out there have these weaker pistons instead of the heavy duty stock forged pistons.
