Would a Pro-M MAF off a fox 302 work on a 94-95 302?

even though the electronics will probably fit, the computer is not likely to be happy with it without a chip or some sort of eec tuning modification to compensate for it

Mine worked perfectly fine. Pro-M 80mm calibrated for 24# injectors. All the mass air meter does is put out a voltage/resistance that the computer reads and inteprets so it will work with no computer modifications!

Hey, You're jaymacs friend. I'm the kid who owned the 94 GT. I was up there when we were putting heads on his car.

yes, the voltage is read by the pcm and interpreted as an amount of air passing through the maf housing. this is the "maf transfer" function.

since the 87-93 housing is smaller than the 94-95 housing, the voltages generated by the sensors don't mean the same things to their respective pcms. a voltage of 1.0 on a 87-93 might mean to the 87-93 pcm that 20 kg/hr is passing through the meter, but on a 94-95, a voltage reading of 1.0 from the maf might mean that 25 kg/hr is passing through the maf. this is a direct result of the fact that the 94-95 housing is larger than the 87-93.

am i missing something? is the 94/95 housing not larger than the 87-93 housing?

This reasoning looks pretty good to me

Here is a different way of looking at what may or may not cause a prob.

ProM knows the oem maf curve for the Fox is not the same as on our cars. If they build the meter around that fact AND the difference between the two curves is a good bit ...... you may be in for some trouble.

I know the oem curve between the 94-95 GT & Cobra is not that different.

I've never taken the time to look at the difference between the Fox and our cars

I am currently running a 4.6 crown vic maf on my 76mm C&L. I just got the motor started and just runs up and down the street it responds well. I think BlackVert has a good theory, which is why I'm not driving it much until I get it tuned.
