I have an automatic 87 GT with about 110,000 miles. the car has a new exhaust system, TPS, plugs, wires and optima battery. The last thing done to the car was a new water pump and thermostat. However one of the water pump bolts broke off in the block so the timing cover had to come off to remove the bolt. All the threads were chased with a tap and re-assembled. The problem is whenever i go to start it all it wants to do is turn over. I can "catch" it and it will start but if i dont catch it it can be a hassel. the car is a daily driver and this unreliablilty is not good to say the least. when the engine is turning over there is a smell gas but that smell goes away once it starts. it runs great when it starts.
could it be injectors?
could any contaminents that fell in the oil cause anything?
oil was changed right after car was started and checked for leaks.
Fuel or spark?
Vacume?
The car is an 87 with the speed density and does that "hunting" at idle thats common with the speed density.
would appreciate any help
