87 turbo coupe HELP!!!!!

someone please help I have a 87 turbocoupe that will not run correctly,runs ok when cold or the computer is reset but when it warms up it runs horrible when it starts to boost the whole car starts to shake back and forth (also see black smoke sometimes} even does it when you push down on the gas seems to me like an ignition problem(only under load) also after being warmed up it has an eratic miss while idling one time it idled so bad, it was barley running (lots of black smoke and idled like it had a big cam) i have swaped vam meter, ecu, distributer tps sensor, new plugs wires cap and rotor(autolite) coil please help new to turbo stuff used to the 5.0 stuff thanks

put a timing light on it and see if it advances when you rev it. base setting is 10* With the spout disconnected.

Get a fuel pressure gauge on it and check your base fuel pressure. 35-45PSI at idle is the spec. Mine's at 40.

Very simple very effective tests.

Another thing to think about replacing would be the coolant temp. sensor. I had that problem with my car. It would start up and have gobs of black smoke and then die sometimes. I switched that sensor and it started right up and ran excellent.

hey thanks guys i think i found the problem the NEW coil wire was bad swaped it with an old one i had, put a scanner on the car and it threw a code saying secondary ignition, runs good now this site has been a great help
